WO 8 SALTY BREEZE (WO Best Bet #1, $6.50)

SA 1 (OC-50k, 7f) #4 GENTRIFIED (4-1) needs to run faster to compete here but might do just that in his second start as a gelding. He cuts back to his winning distance (93 CPR March 10) 2nd off the shelf and Prat climbs aboard. #1 Face of Victory was an okay 2nd on a wet track in his first start vs. winners May 7 (98 CPR). He graduated on a fast track at this course/distance April 1 (113 CPR) and is firing Los Al bullets for this. #2 Squared Squared (9-2) goes turf/dirt and route/sprint for Sadler. He did get a 109 CPR on a local fast track at 8f Feb 2. #7 Quiet Dude (8-1) switches surfaces and received a 111 CPR in his local flat mile graduation run April 21. He was 2nd to Face of Victory April 1 and landed the place behind Gentrified March 10. #6 True Valor (4-1) romped with the addition of blinkers after a 6+ month layoff May 26 (115 CPR). He might be this good. THE PLAYS: #4 to win, Trifecta 1-4/1-4-7/1-2-4-6-7

SA 2 (MSW, 6.5T) #9 INDEPENDENT WOMAN (12-1) gets in light with Roman and Yakteen is 2-for-6 debut turf and 2-for-9 w/turf sprinters (7 of 9 in Top 3). Unusual Heat is a good turf sire and dam has tossed two turf winners. #6 Lady Acclamation (8-1) chased strong splits before throwing in the towel in her flat mile bow April 29 (1-3 finishers next out winners). Dam has tossed a turf winner and she might improve down the hill. #11 Jabber Now (3-1) stalked and was second best in an improved downhill effort May 5 (120 Pace + 111 Final). #7 R Sunday Surprise (6-1) moves to the Mulhall barn and is back with maidens in her first start in 7+ months. She removes blinkers and dam has tossed a turf winner. #4 Berezina (6-1) has some positives and negatives. Tribal Rule is a solid grass sire, dam’s other starter won on turf, and Prat takes the call. Powell is 0-for-20 with first timers, 0-for-5 first turf, and 0-for-9 in turf sprints. #5 Aflewency (12-1) finished 6th of 9 in her dirt sprint bow. French is 1-for-2 first turf and Stevens has connected with this barn in the past. THE PLAYS: #9 to win, Trifecta 6-9/6-7-9-11/4-5-6-7-9-11

SA 3 (MSW, 5.5f) #4 ROOSEVELT (3-1) had an uncomfortable beginning from the rail as the favorite in his long ago DMR bow and never got involved vs. the likes of Gormley. Callaghan trains him now and he show a +ROI with this type of layoff runner. Stevens rides the $350k son of Bodemeister and he should be viewed as first timer all over again. #5 Six Cider (3-1) was an okay 4th in his DMR bow last summer and the 2-3 finishers were next out winners. Prat hops aboard Hollendorfer’s $210k purchase. #3 Sakab (5-2) sports back-to-back six furlong gate moves at Los Al and O’Neill’s $80k purchase is bred to win early (Uncle Mo 18% debut sire) #2 Microrithms (2-1) is training like he has some ability for Baffert (solid 6f gate works May 31 + June 7). They only paid $50k for him. THE PLAYS: #4 to win, Exacta 3-4-5/2, Trifecta 2-3-4/2-3-4/5

SA 4 (Clm-6250k, 5.5f) #8 STATELY COMMAND (5-1) switches barns via claim and can compete here if she runs back to her local sprint win vs. this kind April 6 (104 Pace + 99 Final). #2 Where’s the D (2-1) drops, switches surfaces, and hit the board in her last two dirt sprints (125 Pace + 101 Final April 1). She gets in light with Roman. #5 Trinitys Turn (5-1) turns back off the claim and owns okay dirt route numbers but has never done much in sprint races. She did get a 113 Pace + 96 Final in a local extended sprint April 23. #1 Thames Valley (6-1) is a sharp Los Al shipper in an empty heat and should be forwardly placed from the rail. Her stablemate is my top pick. THE PLAYS: #8 to win, Exacta 1-5-8/2, Trifecta 1-2-8/1-2-8/5

SA 5 (OC-40k, 6f) #1 JUNIOR GILLIAM (3-1) is sharp, fresh, and likes this course/distance. Prat rides him well. #3 Forest Blue (5-2) always fires at this course (9-4-4-1) and distance (5-4-1-0). He received a 135 Pace + 144 Final in a sharp course-distance win as the favorite May 18 (blinkers on). #2 It’s Tiz Time (12-1) earned a decent number (135 Final) in his winning course/distance bow April 20 and the 2-3 finishers were next out winners. #4 Rocket Fuel (6-1) shows up in the D’Amato barn and both of his local wins were at this distance. He figures to stalk the pace under Maldonado but might need the outing (first start in 8+ months). THE PLAYS: #1 to win, Exacta Box 1-3, Trifecta 1-3/1-2-3-4/1-2-3-4

SA 6 (G2 Honeymoon, 9T) #2 PACIFIC WIND (9-2) has upside with only two starts under her belt. Stalkers at a mile tend to do well at nine furlongs and she can turn the tables on #4 Sircat Sally (3-5). The latter had everything her own way in her last pair and could easily run her record to 7-for-7. #1 Zaffinah (6-1) has won two straight and has the ability to go with Sircat Sally early. If that happens, Pacific Wind could be the first to attack. #5 Beau Recall (4-1) also tries to turn the tables on Sircat Sally after finishing behind her nemesis at a flat mile in her last pair. She packs a decent stretch kick but will she sustain her run at 9f? She could sweep past them all if she does. THE PLAYS: #2 to win, Exacta 2/4-5, Exacta 4-5/2, Trifecta 2-5/2-4-5/2-4-5

SA 7 (Mcl-20k, 7f) #6 RICK’S DREAM (6-1) broke last and rallied for 3rd in his local bow May 20 (81 Final) and the runner-up was a next out winner. He receives an apprentice rider upgrade from Fuentes to Roman and Palma is good with second timers. #13 Kenzou’s Empire (4-1) has the classic turn back pattern for Baltas. He set solid splits and held 3rd in a similar flat mile affair May 27 (125 Pace + 101 Final). #11 Where’sthemoneyjack (9-2) turns back and Marquez is 2-for-5 with this type of dropper. #5 Zachian (8-1) hit the board in 3 of 4 and Guce is 4-for-7 w/Carava. #8 Specimen (7-2) is 0-for-12 and tough to use on top but did run 2nd at this distance May 14 (120 Pace + 1-2 Final). #9 Supreme Giant (20-1) has never raced for a $20k tag and I like the rider switch to Ocampo. I have had some success keying him in 3rd in the past. THE PLAYS: #6 to win, Exacta Box 6-13, Trifecta 6-11-13/5-8-9/5-8-9

SA 8 (Str-Hcp, 8T) #5 HAY DUDE (7-2) exits a nice $25k downhill win (90 FIRE + 140 CPR) for Prat/Miller and he handles a flat mile. #3 Sky Preacher (3-1) beat $50k claimers March 25 (98 FIRE + 136 CPR) and Sadler took him from Baltas that day (runner-up next out winner). Bejarano rides back. #9 Wood Machine (9-2) is 6-for-10 at this distance on turf and won at 8f here May 20 (84 FIRE + 127 CPR). #1 Yes Yes Yes (5-1) ran well in his last four and figures in the hunt throughout from the rail. #2 Buymeabond (12-1) is capable of unleashing a nice late kick at this distance on turf and returning rider Van Dyke shows a +ROI w/Hollendorfer. THE PLAYS: #5 to win, Exacta 5/3-9, Exacta 3-9/5, Trifecta 3-5-9/1-2-3-5-9/3-5-9

SA 9 (G2 Summertime Oaks, 8.5f) #7 MAJESTIC QUALITY (5-1) finally graduated in her 10th career start and she looked good and finished fast (31.5) for Team Desormeaux in that May 21 affair (131 Final). She was 2nd to Farrell in the G2 Rachel Alexandra Feb 25 and gets pace to chase in the paper race. #3 It Tiz Well (7-2) is usually right there at the finish when she is not running against the likes of Abel Tasman, Paradise Woods, and Unique Bella. The G3 Honeybee winner (143 Final) dons the hood, attracts Smith, and projects a stalking trip. #6 Faypien (7-2) is on the upswing for Baffert and the $720k purchase is bred to go this far. She is 2-for-3 with her lone loss an okay 3rd to Paradise Woods in her sprint bow. Bejarano is 5-for-10 w/Baffert but she won’t offer much value and I am concerned about her slow final 1/4 (26.1) in the Angel Flight (135 Final). #9 Mopotism (6-1) owns early/pressing versatility and two route wins including the Island Fashion at Sunland (140 Final). She was a nose behind It Tiz Well in the SA Oaks and caught the slop in the Ky Oaks. THE PLAYS: #7 to win, Exacta 7/3-6-9, Exacta 3-6-9/7, Trifecta 3-7/3-6-7-9/3-6-7-9

SA 10 (MSW, 8T) #6 OREGON (7-2) ran out of steam from post 10 as the favorite at 9f May 27 (78 FIRE + 120 CPR). He added blinkers and landed the place at this course/distance April 30 (81 FIRE + 128 CPR) and might bounce back under Stevens.  #2 Kopitar (5-2) hit the board in all three downhill sprints earlier this year and returns as a gelding for D’Amato. #11 Member State (4-1) invades from Ireland and Callaghan is 3-for-9 with shippers to the US. Prat rides and he was 2nd to Beau Recall (see race 6) in an overseas extended sprint on turf last summer. #7 Divisor (12-1) switches to turf and I like the Pereira/D’Amato team (5-for-10 combo). The $120k Keeneland sales grad adds blinkers and might improve. THE PLAYS: #6 to win, Exacta 6/2-7-11, Exacta 2-7-11/6, Trifecta 6-11/2-6-7-11/2-6-7-11
